Realigned board will help shape the future of affordable housing
San Antonio, Texas (August 5, 2021) – The San Antonio Housing Trust is pleased to welcome City Council Members Jalen McKee-Rodriguez (District 2), Phyllis Viagran (District 3), Adriana Rocha Garcia (District 4), Teri Castillo (District 5) and John Courage (District 9) to the San Antonio Housing Trust Board of Directors. The Council members were appointed to the board by Mayor Ron Nirenberg in July, and those appointments were approved by the full City Council today.
“This is an immensely important time of transition for the Housing Trust,” said Pete Alanis, Executive Director of the San Antonio Housing Trust. “I look forward to working with our new and returning board members to develop our inclusive strategic plan which will more effectively coordinate affordable housing investments as we strive to promote housing solutions in our community that are affordable, accessible, attainable, and sustainable.”
The 5 Council members on the Housing Trust board will be joined by 6 community board members and a city staff advisory member. Applications for the 6 community board positions are still being accepted for the next few weeks at https://webapp9.sanantonio.gov/BoardCommApplication/vacancies.
The community member board seats are expected to be finalized by City Council in September.
